Life Cycle of a Mayfly
Winner of the 2023 Vallum Chapbook Award"[Maya] is a poet acutely attuned to the sensuousness of language, but her touch is light and can be stealthy. " - Matthew King, New Verse Review"[Maya's] careful poetry avoids the easy delineation of beginning, middle, end. Rather, cycles of birth and death overlap... As [her] descriptions and phrases repeat, language itself takes on the cycle. - Rosie Long Decter, Vallum Press"With the same lightness of touch required to bounce the hand-tied fly off the water, [Maya] deftly flicks back and forth through time, casting her line between the keen view of a child and the backward glance of an adult eye." -- Anna Farrow, The Catholic Register
